Too Much
Much esteemed US rapper Freddie Gibbs has dropped a lively single Too Much with Memphis spitter Moneybagg Yo ahead of his new album $oul $old $eperately expected later this month.
Gibbs’ 2020 release ‘Alfredo’ was up there with rap album of the year, thanks in part to The Alchemist and his prolific production standards. Since then we’ve had a reboot of ‘Piñata’ and a couple of singles of varying styles; Ice Cream featuring Rick Ross the closest to this drop.
Too Much is a fast double-timing affair, with maybe a touch of auto tune, as Freddie’s delivery changes somewhat from what I’ve come familiar with. It’s hook heavy, but with one I’m sure that’ll get fans frenzied in live circumstances thanks to its repeatability.
As for the visuals and artwork, Freddie pledges against losing himself for the sake of industry recognition. His recent beef with Benny the Butcher has certainly affected Freddie’s image, but focusing solely on music, there aren’t many more versatile who have worked their way up to his position with their souls still intact.
