Not Mine / No Rush
UK underground royalty A2 parades his craft with typically nonchalant fashion on double sided single ‘Not Mine / No Rush’. After a period of time away from the public eye, the South London producer and rapper recently surprised, and excited fans, with accomplished single ‘Akolades’. This single supported the news that A2 will be releasing a long anticipated follow up album to 2019’s ‘All Spill’. The new album, named ‘Just So You Know’, is due for release this summer and will feature these two new offerings from the enigmatic and masterful songwriter.
A constant air of melancholy drifts through A2’s cerebral and unparalleled sound; this wistful authenticity is not lost on this new double sided offering.
The NX’GHTS produced ‘Not Mine’, accompanied by visuals directed by shotbynate7, is a forlorn and introspective affair with gentle, perusing piano chords engaged in an emotional waltz with A2’s spaced out autotune musings.
The Etta Bond featuring, NEENYO produced, ‘No Rush’ is a bittersweet slither of slowly grooving hip hop. The tracks murky soundscape and swinging drums are perfect artillery for the pair, who previously collaborated several years ago on Etta’s gorgeous and sorrowful ‘Surface’, to let off rounds of sombre ammunition.
An artist who upholds artistic purity like few others, A2 steers further into a lane of his own with every diverse and cascading sonic statement of intent. If the new album is anything like his previous two bodies of work, we are in for a treat.
