Frenchie

Frenchie, the London-based French-English singer-songwriter, is making waves with her debut self-titled album. Previously known as The Naked Eye and a member of the all-female collective Her Songs, Frenchie brings a fusion of soulful storytelling and poetic intimacy. With a voice that's as captivating as it is raw, her music offers a refreshing take on jazz, soul, and alternative R&B.

Produced by the talented Femi Temowo, known for his work with Amy Winehouse and SAULT, the album features a stellar lineup of collaborators. Tracks like Can I Lean On You?, which dives deep into personal authenticity and vulnerability, are enriched by the sounds of Hohnen Ford’s backing vocals, Frida Touray’s soulful delivery, and Ayo Salawu’s rhythmic touch on drums. Adding to the mix is the elegant string arrangement by Celestial Strings, all of which create an irresistible blend of jazzy guitar riffs, delicate strings, and groove-heavy percussion.

With additional contributions from musicians like Luke Smith (keys) and Aaron Paul Taylor (co-writing Distance), Frenchie’s debut is a showcase of her diverse influences—from modern artists like Cleo Sol, Lauryn Hill, and Lianne La Havas to legends like Stevie Wonder and Minnie Riperton. The result is an album that moves seamlessly between introspective ballads and upbeat, jazz-infused tracks like Love Reservoir, which features the stunning vocals of Frida Touray.

Already gaining support from BBC 6 Music, Jazz FM, and CLASH Magazine, Frenchie is quickly establishing herself as an exciting new voice in the UK jazz and soul scene. With her unique sound and emotionally rich lyrics, this debut is only the beginning for Frenchie—watch this space!
