Whimsical Charm Side B
Northampton’s own Nevmore is back with Whimsical Charm Side B, the follow-up to his chilled-out Side A. Known for his clever lyricism and musical versatility, Nevmore switches things up here, diving into some gritty, old-school boom bap, while still keeping things relaxed and breezy. It’s the perfect soundtrack for those moments when you want to vibe out but also need some real bars to think about.
The EP kicks off with “English Channel”, a smooth intro with crisp strings and clean vocals that set the tone. Next, “Three Stripes” brings the lo-fi vibes, perfect for those reflective moments. It’s mellow, easygoing, and lets Nevmore’s storytelling shine. Things get a bit darker on “Mirrors”, with haunting production that digs deep into the introspective side of Nevmore. The EP wraps up with “Big Money Spender”, featuring Black Josh, a track that’s a little off-kilter and experimental, with some funky production from Denny LAflare, who’s worked with Griselda artists like Westside Gunn.
The producers on Side B bring a lot of personality to the table. Thugs Bunny, who’s behind most of Nevmore’s catalog, provides that laid-back feel. Denny LAflare brings the raw energy, and Mulade, who’s worked with Lord Apex, gives “Three Stripes” a softer, reflective vibe. Each producer adds something unique, making each track feel fresh yet connected to Nevmore’s style.
Nevmore also brings his friend Black Josh along for the ride, continuing their winning streak from their 2023 collaboration “Cantona.” And for the visual side, the music video for “Mirrors,” directed by Azim “Renecide” Miah, adds an extra layer of creativity and energy to match the track's vibe.
Whimsical Charm Side B is a fun yet introspective ride, showing off Nevmore’s growth as an artist and his ability to mix genres, moods, and flows effortlessly. Whether you’re in it for the bars or the chill beats, this EP has something for everyone.
