Whenever You're Ready

One of UK R&B’s brightest sparks, Mahalia lights up the scene with ‘Whenever You’re Ready’. 

The Grammy nominated singer has had an incredible rise over the past few years, garnering mainstream acclaim whilst collaborating with huge names like Headie One and Jacob Collier. The Leicester native recently broke the internet with her ravishing, rip-roaring single ‘Jealous’, which featured Rico Nasty. 

Heavily influenced by 90’s R&B, the Two-Inch-Punch produced instrumental samples the classic Montell Jordan track, ‘Get It On Tonite’. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard the track sampled in recent times; alternative juggernaut Biig Piig provided her interpretation on ‘Don’t Turn Around’, with both songs being equally effective offerings.  Lyrically, there is a coyness to Mahalia’s narration, as she toys with the subjects lust and need for her love.

When speaking on the track, Mahalia said:

“I’m so gassed to be releasing this song. I remember the first time hearing Montell Jordan’s “Get It On Tonite” when I was a kid. It’s been a song that has made me wanna dance ever since and sampling it in ‘Whenever you’re ready’ is really special to me. It’s my new summer jam. I hope everyone loves it as much as I do!”
