War Outside

“There’s a war going on outside,” declares Kojey Radical on his brand new single alongside North London MC Lex Amor. The track marks the announcement of Kojey’s highly anticipated 2022 album, which (if this tune is anything to go by), will be a crusade of creativity and social commentary.

There’s no truth in describing Kojey Radical as just a rapper. The all-round artistic force has proven his prowess across music, poetry, film, fashion, and everything in between, with the video for ‘War Outside’ powerfully exhibiting many of those facets. Rife in symbolism and with Lex spitting from a witness box, the Dumas Haddad visuals are not to be missed.

Now for the tune itself. Swindle, (co-executive producer of Kojey’s upcoming project), Kz and Mike Keyz laced the beat which bangs from the get-go. Every element is utterly infectious and encapsulating. We’re treated to a whistled melody, deep hums, and a resonant synth that’s equal parts funky and foreboding. 

Kojey and Lex’s vocal styles both blend singing with rapping, while their verses interact rather than sitting apart like traditional features often do. This tune is another brilliant display of Black British talent shining through our murky cultural warzone.
