Track of the Week: BMH+
Underground production stalwart Finch Fetti continues to channel innovation and evolution with BMH+, linking up with Baski+ and 22Ted to deliver a hybrid sound that challenges convention.
Any who thinks they knows UK underground rap should be aware of the impact of Finch Fetti over the past few years. His big break came on Own Brand Freestyle, the gargantuan Dreya Mac and FelixThe1st hit that had an astronomical impact on the career of everyone involved, but Finch has been long since nurturing his own sound and the sound of his collaborators, and still perseveres to do so in abundance. Not settling for his successes to date, he proceeds to push his own production nuance, recently working with the likes of Cal1sto, Kish! and Baski+, who he teams up with here for on this intriguing, style-bending new single.
It’s an emotionally evoking number - a street ballad - that sees both artists delve deep into their mind state and progress beyond lyrical indulgence and into introspective meanderings. Stylistically it sits closest to liquid drum & bass, but the inclusion of wave, R&B and rap tendencies take the track to compelling heights, with the artists riding the unique instrumental with craft and charisma.
