Thunder

Arriving with sultry record ‘Thunder’, Los Angeles based artist Adam Nabeel unveils his first release of the year. Produced and written by Adam, this track certainly pricked my ears through its demonstration to bring a multitude of genres to the table, from East-African percussion to R&B vocals, whilst also exemplifying a commercial quality from pop music through the structure.

Even though it’s still brand new to me, it draws a feeling of familiarity. On this occasion, it really made me take note, as often when this happens it can go one of two ways. I think you can guess which way it is this time, by the fact I’m actually writing about it.

Omani-born Nabeel tagged this record with #afro-trapsoul and whilst it doesn’t have any relation to Bryson Tiller’s smash hit album, I can see where this notion comes from with its smooth and atmospheric aura that emanates through the production and overall sound – this time with a twist. It’s definitely one I’d play driving a night, solo. You can just imagine the lights from the dashboard shining, whilst this is on in the background, and the road never really ending. As Adam Nabeel said to me, this is a song for a newfound Afro-Arabian world.
