Thinking of You

Thinking of You is Kwaku Asante’s second single of the year and it is taken from his upcoming EP, Wanderlust. 

Thinking of You depicts the struggle of Kwaku Asante in attempting to rid himself of a previously established bond, his recollections of this relationship leave him questioning his previous partners desire to restart and pick up from where they left off. 

He also laments on a feeling of displacement and loss throughout the track, whilst also explicitly mentioning that his pursuit of a replacement has been useless as nothing quite compares to the original. The neo-soul infused backdrop features warm synths, gentle piano chords and intermittent soft rings to pair smoothly alongside the reflective lyricism.

Speaking about the song, Kwaku said:

“‘Thinking of You’ really delves into the feeling of regret we face when we take someone for granted so much they eventually leave and find someone better. It unpacks all the feelings that resurface when we see them happy, realizing how much care we have for them and the longing to get them back.”

Kwaku Asante has been steadily gaining momentum with his recent collaboration with Foot Patrol and Adidas originals , sold out headline show at the Jazz Cafe in November 2021 and his support of Samm Henshaw on his UK tour ; these happenings have left much to be anticipated as the growth in both his artistry and notoriety continue to rise.
