SEAFOOD
Taken from the album ‘Microwave Cooking 2000’ released on Blah Records, the track ‘SEAFOOD’ and accompanying video directed by Honey JD of Loudhouse Diaries finds London artists CLBRKS & Morriarchi in righteous and rip-roaring form. With his unparalleled, one of a kind tone of voice, and often outrageous choice of vocabulary, CLBRKS brings some of his best lyrics to this album closer. CLBRKS’ form is matched by the eerie yet funky beat from one of the best underground hip hop producers around, Morriarchi.
CLBRKS starts as he means to go on, with the opening bar “I’m part man, part lager” tinged with irony and humour. CLBRKS rides Morriarchi’s beat like it’s a rollercoaster with peaks and drops, yet he is not a mere spectator, he controls the rhythm of the track with skill and finesse. The synth sample and understated drums help create an atmosphere that is laid back but also playful.
Definitely one of the interesting tracks on ‘Microwave Cooking 2000’, alongside a video with great direction and editing, ‘SEAFOOD’ is intelligent and ballsy, and shows that all artists involved are working at the top of their respective games.
