Say Less

Following on from ‘Project Prologue’, Zoey Lily reaffirms her credentials on new song ‘Say Less’, featuring South London’s INFAMOUSIZAK. This track takes a complete divergence from Zoey’s usual sound and offers two distinctly witty and charismatic performances. Whilst Zoey is known for more nonchalant Pop, ‘Say Less’ is an example of her artistic curiosity shining through. I personally think this is when you can start to judge an artist’s nature, when there is transparency in their courage to diversify. INFAMOUSIZAK feels the perfect partner to experiment with; somebody so effortlessly competent within his sound.

The track structure is nice, real nice. It demonstrates a call and response approach, conversational in style, both with such different sounds, Zoey taking the lead and INFAMOUSIZAK responding, hitting the listeners with the softer tones. Listeners will know that they individually possess the knack of never overpowering a record - a general skill I don’t think is discussed enough in music reviews. Believe me when I say the two are in sync, and that the synergy is what makes it such an interesting listen.

Zoey Lily has been somebody on my radar for a while now and when I spoke to her to find out this collaboration was on the cards, I couldn’t say no.
