Romance in Great Britain
Our favourite cheeky chap mustbejohn has unveiled his anthemic new EP Romance in Great Britain, a project concocted with angst, heart, energy and craft.
Since erupting onto the scene in 2019 with famed hit Jenny’s House, John has been sharpening a sound that is emblematic of his character, spewing stories of modern Britain told through the eyes of a grounded romantic. John has previously unleashed two solid EP’s, Left The Bags Behind and I’m In If You Are, which both achieved laudable success, but this new project felt like a defining moment for John. The stage was set following a scattering of promising singles and festival appearances, but could John deliver Romance in Great Britain?
Refusing to be bound by genre, tying together as far-ranging styles as Britpop, DnB, Rap and Indie, the EP’s palettes are colourful and affecting, full of ear worm chorus’ and vibrant performances. Delving into tales that are vividly relatable to his generation, John is a preacher for the intricacies of normality, of midweek pints, of bad decisions, of thoughtful hedonism. The bouncy tracklist boasts big hitters like the title track and New Gen, DnB gem Days Feel Like Seconds and the introspective closer Is It Just Me.
