Please Don't Play With Fire
After keeping low-key most of the year, One Acen comes back onto the scene with the release of album SaveOurSummer: The Playlist which closes with Please Don’t Play with Fire featuring JME.
Arguably one of the biggest UK-Afro fusion pioneers, One Acen, came back onto the scene to rescue the Summer Vibes of UK music. In contrast to the infectious dance-able beat, the lyrics seem to highlight unresolved tension Acen may of had toward someone at the time of writing.
Halfway through the track, fellow Tottenham artist JME comes in with his renowned grime style but with a new afrobeats twist we haven’t heard from JME before.
The most spoken aspect of the track is when JME pays hommage to brother and rap legend Skepta with the line “Ring, ring **** where’s the money that you owe?” which is along similar lines to the infamous “Ring ring **** it’s your mummy on the phone” from the track It Ain’t Safe.
It’s safe to say One Acen and JME brought the fire with the new track.
