Nothing Nice

Dutch producer and DJ Jarreau Vandal has released his latest single ‘Nothing Nice’, employing the highly-talented Londoner Kojey Radical and fellow Dutch singer Gaidaa on vocals. Using the song to announce Vandal’s forthcoming EP ‘Suburb Superhero: The Villain Within’, the combination of this trio is a match made in alternative hip-hop heaven and is sure to build excitement for Vandal’s upcoming project. 

‘Nothing Nice’ highlights the versatility and chemistry between the three artists superbly. Expressing themes of mortality and struggling alongside optimism and keys that “ain’t been this nice since the 80s”, the lyrics of the song perfectly compliment the production. The structure of the track emphasises these contrasting themes, moving from dark and moody bass sounds to gorgeous chords and uplifting drums. The transitions in sound exhibit the feeling of coming out the other side when life’s problems have you struggling. 

If this is the only collaboration between the trio, I am sure fans of all three will want to see it again. They have excellent balance, filling each musical slot perfectly and bringing exactly what is needed. Hopefully, there is more from this team stored in the vault.
