Martin's Sofa
After subtle references in December’s ‘50’s’ and the tiktok trend #whereismartinssofa, Tottenham’s very own Headie One finally drops the highly anticipated ‘Martin’s Sofa’. The instrumental (sample of Flatbush Zombies ‘Palm Trees’) had fans questioning on social media.
Surfacing months before with the leak of the song online, the song shares some emotive lyrics that many of One’s listeners can relate to. Giving an insight to fans on the darker times and his past life before his career fame, the official release is accompanied with the official music video directed by Nathan James Tetty. Both song and visuals pay homage to real life Martin, a longtime friend of the musician who supported and provided him with a place to stay through uncertain times. The song depicts the continuous bond and respect both individuals have for each other.
Headie expresses his gratitude throughout the song and recently gifted Martin with a new sofa, this comes to no surprise at the music and new creative direction Headie’s currently working towards with the original sofa making various trips around the UK this week, the artist’s set to start his European tour in February which supports his European project- No Borders which features various European artists including Luciano (‘Cloud’).
