Lavender
Ireland’s Jess Smyth, or Biig Piig to me and you, has dropped ‘Lavender’, a single taken from her upcoming EP ‘The Sky Is Bleeding’ which is out May 21st. A 23-year-old singer/songwriter who sings in both Spanish and English, Biig Piig has dabbled in hip hop beats to create a unique sound built on her airy vocals and reflective lyricism.
Having grown up in Spain due to her brother’s asthma, she returned to learn English before starting to construct her sound. This was helped by the introduction to London creative Lava La Rue who invited Jess to join her artistic entourage NiNE8COLLECTIVE. It was here that Biig Piig met Mac Wetha, who fans will recognise from her earlier, self-released projects; Mac being her DJ before she signed to RCA Records, an arm of Sony Corporation.
This new 6-track project has taken a provocative turn. Confessing to Twitter that she is in her “sxc dom phase”, Biig Piig made it abundantly clear in the visuals for ‘Lavender’ that she is confident in her skin, as she should be. ‘Lavender’ is out now, along a rather sensual music video, so try not to get tied up.
