Kid Cudi World Tour Preview
Kid Cudi is finally returning to the UK this month, and at this point, Scott Mescudi needs absolutely no introduction. Reaching legendary status amongst the late 2000s XXL Freshmen, he’s got classics under his belt, and his quality still hasn’t been obstructed… Man on the Moon III is a fantastic part of the trilogy that will hold close memories to me for every winter to come. The neo-psychedelia fusion of trap, and pop rap was the perfect mood setter for the cold weather and continues to be two years later.
After years and years of fiending for Cudi tickets, I’m over the moon he’s coming back. It’s been thirteen years since he’s been to the UK and played at Roundhouse, which essentially marked the beginning of his career. Outside of North America, his only other shows will be in Tokyo, Berlin, Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, and Milan, so make sure you’re there – or you might have to wait another painstakingly long time.
Not only that, but he’s also bringing along Knucks, one of the best talents the UK has to offer right now – especially amongst the continuing aftermath of hype following on from his project ALPHA PLACE. After missing the opportunity to catch Knucks at All Points East, we’re extremely gassed for that too.
Even though Man on the Moon III feels like just yesterday, as autumn starts to get chillier and chillier, he’s just released Entergalactic, a passion-project companion piece to his new Netflix production, and an LP in its own right, with plenty of highlights. This year he also re-released his fan favourite, cult classic mixtape A Kid Named Cudi, and Volume 1 of his greatest hits.
Even though Kid Cudi has been focusing on acting a lot recently (like in the fantastic horror flick X), we’re hoping to hear him return to his roots with some gems from the Grammy winner like Day ‘N’ Nite, Pursuit Of Happiness, Mr. Rager, Solo Dolo (Nightmare), but plenty of new material too. And who knows, maybe the British audience will even get to hear the Crookers remix of Day ‘N’ Nite, which blew him to new heights in the UK, as did David Guetta’s Memories.
Despite recent controversies (and rightfully cutting ties) with Kanye West, and rightfully cutting ties, hopefully we’ll still get to even hear at least a few of those tracks they had together like Erase Me, Gorgeous, Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1, Reborn, Cudi Montage, Moon, Welcome to Heartbreak, or Ghost Town, considering those tracks just wouldn’t be the same without his contributions.
Responsible for some of the best qualities of acclaimed KIDS SEE GHOSTS, and WZRD, Kid Cudi is a multi-talented icon and the opportunity to catch him on his tour is not one to simply swipe away. From the age of eight, hearing tracks like The Funeral, Man On The Moon, and Day ‘N’ Nite helped form the music taste I have to this day.
His London show is on November 15th at the O2 Arena, and with the rapper still selling 144,000 copies first week in 2020, it’s sure to be a packed event, so make sure you grab tickets.
You can listen to Entergalactic on all streaming platforms, and also purchase tickets to the show here.
