Karma Called
Downtown Kayoto is sure to be the next big thing in the UK scene, and ‘Karma Called’ firms it. The multi-talented upcoming songwriter shares Get Out inspired visuals with his new single.
With his alternative mix of R&B, hip hop, and electronic music, he constantly delivers with innovative singles. From ‘Feels Like’, the Frank Ocean influenced track from last year, to ‘Hello World’, the drum and bass influenced banger, to this new one, which is infinitely catchy and reminiscent of peers like Dominic Fike and Kevin Abstract.
The track is effortlessly cool, showing Kayoto’s diverse writing and performing talent once again. The upbeat, bittersweet instrumental casually accompanies the gloomy visuals which tell a terrifying story. Downtown explains the video came “from a place of experimentation, the song already gave out a pretty strong summer vibe but also had quite eerie undertones to it.”
The Zimbabwe born, Hull raised artist borrows from a wide range of influences, but always remains himself. His infectious ear worm hooks are meant to be heard on festival stages, and we can’t wait to see him flower into his full potential. Hopefully he continues to push his sound further, developing into a gifted young star.
With co-signs from Jessie Ware, Zane Lowe, and Nick Grimshaw, as well as being Radio 1’s Future Artist, it’s a good thing he’s finally announced his upcoming EP ‘Navig8’, which has been anticipated for a while now following lots of radio play, and festival appearances.
