In Love With The Idea

Alt-rapper Burney has done it again, delivering another left-leaning, hip-hop offering to close off his 2023. Burney shows that vulnerability can still have whip-appeal with his most open track to date, sitting on a vibey 70’s / 80’s, R&B / soul infused sonic bed to cusp his distinctive vocal approach, the woozy soundscape sonically reflects the ebbs and flows of dating, the ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’ and the being in love with the idea of someone, more so than them themselves.

The idea for the song came about during a time when I was unsuccessfully dating quite a bit, and I said to a friend of mine “they don’t love me, they just love the idea of me.” It’s about falling for someone but having question marks about whether they feel the same - something that SUCKS but many of us have experienced."

Having distinguished himself from the rest with this personality-driven music, the Surrey based artist is overspilling with originality which has deservedly caught the attention of Kiss FM rap ringleader DJ Semtex. We’re keen to see what he can bring next year.
