Hopeless Romantic
Breakthrough singer/songwriter Kelly Kiara drops her debut mixtape, ‘Hopeless Romantic’.
Laying it all bare, Kelly covers topics of heartbreak, vulnerability, revenge, lust and regret in a breathtakingly fun yet sultry way. Exploring all corners of R&B, we witness Kelly deliver the perfect combination of nostalgia mixed with modern-day greatness. Working with a handful of sought after producers such as TOPFLR, Neenyo, Menace, Harry James and 169, the fourteen-track tape spans just over forty minutes.
Hailing from Leeds, Kelly’s musical story began when her heartbroken cover of Justin Bieber’s ‘Love Yourself’ went viral proving to be the perfect introduction to the star with no filter. At the time, Kelly was working as a recruiter and her dreams of making it as a singer had almost completely gone but this serendipitous moment catapulted her into peoples consciousness and things haven’t been the same since. Soon enough she secured a publishing deal with Universal and went on to write chart-topping hits for Mabel, Ashnikko, Era Istrefi and Gorgon City.
Most recently Kelly collaborated with Morrison, one of the UK scenes most in-demand rappers on his new single ‘Guilty’ which is currently on heavy radio rotation with championing support from Target, Snoochie Shy, Reece Parkinson, Nick Bright and many more. Growing up Kelly was inspired by her dads Motown collection, Phil Collins as well as icons such as Lil Kim, Christina Aguilera, Ashanti, Mariah Carey and Mya.
Following a recent time out to focus on her writing, Kelly is back and ready to unveil one of her most personal projects to date. Comfortably finding her place within the R&B landscape, Kelly’s versatility and confidence set her apart from the masses. Having amassed over 110 million streams for her writing credits, her solo material is following in similar footsteps.
Speaking on the EP, Kelly remarked:
