Heartwing

Heartwing is a track to shake the autumn rain from your coat to, coughed up by Birmingham born and bred producer Hemai in collaboration with NEONE the Wonderer.

It’s rare to find a track you could cruse to equally well in a flower market or LA’s skid row. Thanks to the lushness of the beats, you wouldn’t tell either apart. It wraps you so completely in a blanket of sound that coming out the other side is a jarring return to earth from sonic paradise. You can hear all the ingredients that went into making this, but it’s all so smoothly mixed it’s hard to pick it apart, complements to the chef’s. Layers of vocals fade in and out of string overdubs and fluttering keys. NEONE has a nice laid back flow bringing a bit of rawness without overcooking it with edge.

If this is the tip of the iceberg instead of the peak of the mountain, then Hemai’s up and coming EP Leisure Trip should be a treat for the senses. I never knew lo-fi jazz-hip hop could be so tasty.
