Birmingham’s Jaydonclover returns with a show-stopping double single ‘happier, but still sad’. 

One of the most unique voices in the UK, Jaydon’s lo-fi-infused blend of R&B and Hip Hop stands out from the masses, propelling her right to the top of an excellent, diverse alternative R&B scene. 

Jaydon enlists friend and frequent collaborator dylantheinfamous for the sentimental, seductive and symbiotic instrumentals. The two have a seemingly rare sonic connection, with Dylan’s minimalist, DIY approach the perfect accompaniment for Jaydon’s broodily beautiful tones. 

Lyrically, both tracks are immensely personal. ‘Housenohome’ takes a look at the nomadic lifestyle that Jaydon was living during a period of sofa surfing before she found permanent accommodation following her move down to London. Black Josh brings a more introspective approach than usual, which marries well with Jaydon’s laidback yet piercing vocals. The collaboration came about by chance, after the pair ran into each other in Dalston. ‘LADYBIRD’ focuses on the mental health battle that the singer experienced through the lockdown period, with its honest and reflective lyricism like a breath of fresh air on a sunny, but freezing cold, day. 

Speaking on the release, Jaydon commented: 

“These two singles are very special to me as they tell the story of the past 10 months of me living in London. They represent growth and freedom, and not being shackled to one city.”

Brimming with intricate beauty and moody ambience, Jaydon has once again shown why she is one of the most hotly tipped songwriters in the underground.
