HAND ON THE HILT

South East London’s experimental hip hop collective Nukuluk returns with their new single, ‘Hand on the Hilt’, now streaming on all major platforms via colorburst records.

The track, crafted using wax cylinder recording techniques and a Roland JDXA synth, delves into themes of paranoia, fantasy, and protection in relationships. Nukuluk describes it as a bridge between their digital, melancholic rap sound and live elements, creating an ethereal, ambiguous production.

Formed during the UK pandemic, Nukuluk includes singer and guitarist Syd, rapper Monika, drummer Louis, and bassist Mateo. Their debut mixtape, DISASTER POP (2021), and follow-up, SUPERGLUE (2023), earned acclaim from BBC Radio 1, BBC 6Music, and major publications. With a new mixtape set for 2024, Nukuluk continues to push genre boundaries, captivating audiences and marking their place in the UK’s leftfield music scene.
