FVR105
The collective everyone is talking about, Nine8 continue to surpass generic conventions on the futuristic, ambiguous and chromatic ‘FVR105’. Stacked full of exhilarating artists, many of whom are killing it in their solo careers, it’s no wonder that the collective has managed to maintain hype and consistency. Built around the slick, definitive production of Mac Wetha, the groups elasticity and experimentation allows them to stand out amongst their peers, with each track sonically and thematically more compelling than the last.
On FVR105, it is Lava La Rue, Bone Slim and Lorenzorsv who take centre stage vocally, with Nige on production, offering up a vibrant yet subdued cut that simultaneously gets your head bopping and makes you question reality. The lyrical themes of realism and science fiction are emphasised by the dream-like, psychedelic soundscape, with murky synths and glistening keys interlaced with percussion that flows in deft droplets, like light rain on a window pane. The catchy, melodic chorus by the enigmatic Lava La Rue is a highlight of the track, whilst Bone Slim and Lorenzorsv come through with charisma and savvy delivery.
An assemble teeming with peerless, irresistible talent, Nine8 are due to invade, and develop, the alternative scene in 2021.
