Fr££ Time
Following the release of his EP, Soulitude 2 earlier in the year, 27 HILL is back with the release of his new single, Fr££ Time. The track features ethereal, bouncy synth patterns that have all but become synonymous with the underground scene, situating this track comfortably within the current terrain, whilst a tame BPM renders the track subdued, exacerbating a relaxed ambience.
Here, HILL utilises blithe flows, the last syllable of each line effortlessly trickling into the beginning of the next bar. In a scene currently catering to music with quickened tempos and exuberant flows, this restrained flow is refreshing. HILL’s delivery, however, is anything but nonchalant as he swaggers along the beat with a confidence and polish expected of an artist significantly further along in their career.
The pockets that HILL navigate allow for a coherent, succinct performance; his willingness to meet a potential lover in his Fr££ Time, despite having ‘racks to make’, conveyed with clarity and precision. This latest offering from 27 HILL sees him continue to refine the hallmarks of his music as he continues to prepare (in his own words) the tools to carve out his own space in the UK music scene.
