Feels Like a War

An intimately compassionate serenade. Sola is a methodical musician based in South London who confidently blends elements of ambient, R&B and soul music into a miraculous concoction. 

In her new track ‘Feels Like a War’, one noteworthy technique is her use of resampling. Sola recorded her voice and morphed it into an instrumental and sang over the top, incorporating jazzy percussion and atmospheres too. The ingenuity in this track is abundant. Through melancholic melodies and gloriously dusty drums, there is a delightful groove pulsing throughout the song.

The maturity of the song structure and instrument choices is something to behold. Accompanied by trumpets from Ife Ogunjobi of Ezra Collective, Sola’s voice is heartfelt and elegant, demonstrating raw talent that consistently builds moments of sublime tension and release.
