Exclusive Premiere: Hemai & Quinn Oulton - Love Theme For Leisure Trip
Tender and ethereal, rising jazz producer Hemai’s latest cut Love Theme For Leisure Trip, featuring Quinn Oulton and released via Well Overdue, brims with serenity and gratuity.
Birmingham-born, London-based producer and multi-instrumentalist Hemai has been turning the heads of jazz and alternative fans over the past few years. Two projects deep following his debut ’19 EP Eyes, Closed and Strange Beauty, his impressive debut album released last year, Hemai combines the instrumental intricacy of jazz with the hazy atmosphere of electronic music to concoct a sound that’s equal in beauty and nonchalance. Early this autumn, in the run up to his next project, we were gifted stunning single Feet Will Fall with B-ahwe, and groove-laden entry Heartwing with NEONE the Wonderer. Now, a third single in quick succession has been bestowed onto us, the idyllic offering Love Theme For Leisure Trip.
Deeply textured yet at times sparse, Hemai’s palette sketches out ambience and colours it with resonance, the warm instrumental cadences softly countering Quinn’s dulcet melodies that drift in and out of the soundscape in a dream-like fashion. It’s an impressive performance from the fellow upcomer in the UK jazz space, who himself has recently released his own debut album.
This a gently dazzling cut that continues to raise excitement for Hemai’s already highly anticipated upcoming EP Leisure Trip.
