Enemies

Croydon’s Jords celebrates a shift in energy across the globe as the cloud of lockdown begins to lift just in time for sunnier days in his rosy offering ‘Enemies’.

The track is a Transatlantic team up, as the iconic Masego ‘bridges the gap’ between Jords’ wish for his audience to be able to ‘travel through time with (his) music’. This intoxicating mashup of afro/house/funk/pop (exceeding any label), pays homage to his musical influences across the years. Everything within this instrumental operates within perfect harmony, leaving you utterly lost throughout the soundscape. But when Masego’s saintly harmonies coast across those rich lounge keys – it wraps.

Yet, Jordy doesn’t forget about his people and where he’s come from, stating that ‘this one’s for my chargies’. As once the unparalleled chorus dissipates, fellow South London rapper kadiata steps to the mic with a cheeky flow that seals the deal. Giving himself the space to breath between each bar, kadiata weaves amongst fresh flows, injecting the track with further spirit and edge and incorporating witty delivery on bars such as ‘stepped in like joey now she wants to be more than a friend, wowww!’. You’ll find it hard not to crack a smile at his infectious energy.

The whimsical manner that the two rappers possess play hand in hand with the message that better days are ahead of us, as well as the need to drop the negativity lockdown has left us with - bad energy, old relations and trying to control what we can’t. As Jords states ‘c’est la vie, c’est la vie’.

The trio have outdone themselves with this entry, sealing a certified summer sound that we can all enjoy as the restrictions begin to ease across the UK *touch wood*. So go run up Jords’ ‘Enemies’, you won’t regret it – I mean, when has Masego ever failed us.
