Danny Ocean

West London troubadour Maxi Millz releases visuals for the vibrant and effortlessly smooth single ‘Danny Ocean’. Well travelled and versed in the popular music canon, Maxi brings effervescent charm and serendipitous energy to his laidback, sun kissed strand of jazz influenced R&B. The new release coincides with the news that the singer songwriter will be releasing his debut project, the 8 legged ‘Captions’, on the 12th March.

Produced by Fred Cox, who has worked with the likes of Greentea Peng and Etta Bond, the beat is a collation of funk, hip hop and R&B sensibilities. Snappy drums, airy guitar licks and purposeful, attitude laden bass are mixed together with spacious, lightly shaded finesse. Maxi’s vocal floats with nostalgic ease, meandering around the instrumental with subtly and charisma. The track is inspired by the cult classic Ocean’s Eleven, the visuals were filmed in the heart of Vegas, enhancing the thematic journey that the lyricism takes us on.

Talking about the inspiration, Maxi commented:

Every lockdown there is, I choose a series of films to watch. This time it was all the Oceans films. They’ve always been my favourite, mainly cuz of Danny Ocean and Rusty’s character . The subplot of a hopeless romantic reminds me of me. But everything always works out fine, like in Oceans.

Distinctly rich in character and craft, Maxi Millz compels and invigorates on this immensely enjoyable listen, leaving the listener with a cleansed and fresh palette.
