Cutie
East London, may have just found their new frontrunners within a friendship set for stardom; as Hackney’s Deniro5ive and Taifunds let off some serious heat with their summer-stunner ‘Cutie’.
Following the long awaited release, Hackney’s new-found dynamic-duo bless us with their highly anticipated number ‘Cutie’. Exhibiting that organic chemistry we caught a glimpse of on their pungent debut offering ‘Kings’; the pair put that flawless bar-for-bar delivery on full display for their ever-growing audience to absorb.
After a delayed release, ‘Cutie’ came in the form of ‘FTH’ in the beginning; seeing the pair take to TikTok following the cusp of 2020/21 with a sneak-peak of the infectious bailé-funk inspired number alongside Top Boy’s Araloyin Oshunremi; as the clique dance around to the hit track, racking up viral numbers on the app, circulating the energetic buzz that’s still felt today regarding the track.
Sonically, Deniro and Tai turn to Alexay Beats and TK for this number; infusing the jumpy rhythm with that infectious favela-funk influenced percussion, bringing a choppy cadence and distant Vox’s that are essential to any bailé-inspired tune. Laying a canvas fuelled with energy, Deniro and Tai were bound to body this one, feeding off each others’ seamless-confidence throughout; bringing spirited flows riddled with charisma and ear-catching word-play - wrapping this on up into a wheel-up worthy entry at any function with that stand-out bar: ‘like Taifunds says fuck that hoe!’
‘This track here gonna be a movie’ says the hook, and they aren’t lying either; seeing the two link-up with VisbySalsa, Erin-ayo and Callum Browne to bring this one to life on GRM Daily, showcasing the duo and their team bringing unlimited amounts of energy to the video shoot; as the two switch-up locations and outfits throughout under the bright lights.
While the two have truly made their debut heard far and wide with this one, make sure you keep these guys under your radar, you aren’t going to want to miss what they’ve got in store for the future. Until then though, go run up ‘Cutie’ on all streaming platforms and take in the video above!
