AOT
Former RookiE of the Year DialE is back with impressive new single AOT ahead of the release of his highly anticipated sophomore project.
I have had the privilege of being privy to DialE’s career from the release of his very first single Dreams in January last year. A storyteller at heart, this fact is heavily reflected in his music, the culmination of which was his debut EP RookiE, preceded by a miscellany of successful singles and released at the end of 2021. This project saw DialE paint a picture of London with a vividness and veracity that is seldom seen in the underground scene.
AOT is a step away from the lo-fi influenced sounds that typically characterise his music, instead performing over a Alfi Rudman produced House instrumental that features rippling, soulful synths and charismatic percussive hits. These production choices preventAOT from feeling robotic whilst simultaneously serving to accentuate the groove.
Despite being an infectious dance track, DialE does not compromise on the S-Tier lyricism, storytelling, and overall depth so conspicuous in his music, as he raps on the chorus: ‘ain’t felt peace since sweet 16… A.O.T: Always On Time for the guap, young E can’t get no sleep’. Similar thematically to many of his prior releases, AOT sees DialE vocalise the ubiquitous desire for financial success whilst alluding to the implications of this yearning: not a wink of sleep.
