Zambian-Irish spitter Denise Chaila has dropped ‘016’, her first release since a remarkable breakthrough 2020.

A rapper, poet and singer; Denise is known for making important rap which destructs as much as it commentates on societies imbalances.

Having moved to Limerick at a very young age, relevant role models were few and far between in a largely monocultural country, but early inspirations of Lauryn Hill and Prince acted as prevalent, aspirational poster-figures.

Fast forward through working with fellow Limerick group Rusangano Family, as well as Dublin’s Sim Simma Soundsystem, and what we have is an astute artist who has been covered by NME and The Guardian, thus proving her unique cementation in not just the Irish, but nationwide rap scene.

‘016’ is a bouncy ode to success, stating on Instagram that the grass is always greener where you water it, Denise Chaila releases this single on narolane Records where she is both co-founder and contributor.
