When The Light Got Tripped
Yogocop Records is a staple of Brighton town. They embody all that represents the lengthy-piered creative hub; with a fleet of class emcees and producers signed to them it comes as no surprise that their latest release has my speakers’ volume dial dancing clockwise.
The release in question is Maczee P and NuphZed’s collaborative album enigmatically titled ‘When The Light Got Tripped’, a 9 track LP written and produced over a 3 year span between London and their hometown Brighton.
NuphZed, one of the longstanding members of the label, is behind the synth-wave, funk inspired production which lets Maczee P unravel witty stories in his first release on the label. Also acting as the Managing Director for Law Spot Records, it is very clear Maczee P is just getting started and as he rightly points out the world is his oyster- well once he’s it doused in white wine first.
We have feature verses from Booda French, Soundclown as well as NuphZed on what is a gorgeously light, cheery joint dropped aptly in time for the national heatwave, oh and some quality visuals courtesy of Nocky and Kevin Cheung for the projects’ title track.
