Water

Following in fellow Northampton native slowthai’s footsteps, DeBe embraces his inner Machiavellian on the relentlessly entertaining cut ‘Water,’ accompanied by a creative and colourful visual. Plucked from his recent debut ‘The Last Breath’, an excellent body of work with stand out singles ’67 Mustang’ and ‘Drama’, this new video is surrealist and gritty; thematically condensed and exciting visually.

The stark, ominous instrumental is bursting with flair; the distorted guitar croning around the desolate soundscape and booming drums brashly attacking the mix. The coldness of the instrumental timbre is matched by the harsh aggressive tones that the artist brings, snarling at the beat with autobiographical malice. The high end camera work and cinematography really bring the sonic direction to life.

Whether covered in blood in a morgue or screaming in the ear of his torture victim, DeBe is the kind of anti-hero narrator who is hard not to be compelled by. Whether curious to find out more about the mystery figure or skyrocketed by the brash, endorphin-filled music, you will be pleading for more from the up and comer.
