The Only Way
Summer-Pearl has been tending to her back catalogue for 2 years. Prior works require considerable thought before attempting to define in a review, and I admit, current release ‘The Only Way’ is the first I have heard of her. Accompanied by the illest, Eerf Evil, ‘The Only Way’ tackles the strange scenario of having mastered your sexuality before you’ve mastered yourself. Many don’t come back from possessing such early talents for loveless romance, initial coquettish acclaim slowly fades to nihilism, and drugs always seem to lighten the mood.
And yet the all too often accompanying intellect, hidden under all the makeup, refuses to die.
Many of your wisest women will have swam hard against the currents of their pasts, resulting in great subject matter like this. Summer-Pearl and Eerf Evil describe the elegies of wasted potential with sincere skill and compassion. The sultry beat paints a beautiful exploited face and Eerf Evil’s final verse shows her finally vindicated of the crimes of being beautiful and naive.
