The City of Xin
London rapper, producer and multi-instrumentalist Nix Northwest debut's his 'Xin's Disappearance' video series with 'Preface: The City of Xin' visuals. Having joined forces with director, Archie Baker (Cole Buxton, Chanel, Gucci), we see an unhinged and erratic Xin - a fictional alter ego portrayed by Nix - descend into darkness through a club basement while his former self observes from the shadows. Following the release of his widely received debut album 'Xin's Disappearance' Nix has performed at The Great Escape, Last Time Out, Dot 2 Dot, Project 6 festivals in addition to a 5-leg UK headline tour.
"I wanted to bring the audience deeper into the world of Xin's Disappearance with this video. There is so much to uncover within that world and I feel like we've only just scratched the surface, visually. Working with Archie, the director, was an absolute pleasure - expect more from the two of us!"
The seamless collaboration between Nix and Archie is driven by the joint vision of telling the profound stories of the album, something crucial to his experience directing music videos, fashion films, and documentaries.
Speaking on the dual effort, Archie said "What I look for in an artist that I'm working with on a project is taking the time to sit down and resonate on a deeper level. I always ask both myself and the artist: 'What are we actually trying to achieve'. Once you focus on building and nurturing that relationship, it organically and beautifully transcends into the visuals you're trying to create."
This week Nix begins his UK and EU tour which sees him play across 12 cities.
