The Bullshit / For all my Hustlers
West London rapper Lord Apex and Grammy-winning Spanish producer Cookin Soul have released two tracks The Bullshit and For all my Hustlers from their upcoming album Off The Strength, due to drop on the 9th of March.
Cookin Soul employs his signature boom-bap beats on The Bullshit. The heavy bass and kick drum resonate with the weight of the bars recited by Lord Apex, who delivers an honest commentary about the trials he has faced as an artist, grinding to get to where he is now… ‘What the fuck have you been going through?/(The ups and downs dawg)’.
Musically, For all my Hustlers offers a different feel. With light piano keys to roll over, Lord Apex’s flow is mesmerizing. His lyrics on the other hand offer a raw perspective of his environment ‘For all my brothers in hustle tryna flip shit who fell in love with the music got addicted’.
The video for ‘The Bullshit’ cleverly splices scenes from the animated series Spawn to lyrics and beats from the song, including a shot of the Lord Apex gravestone. The comic book theme can also be found in the great cover art by @torre.pentel on Instagram.
This was an unexpected collaboration for fans, that they didn’t know they needed, but are surely going to welcome.
