Squeffle

Creative collective Mellow North and underground favourite Bone Slim come through with finespun, buttery production and studious, reflective writing on new cut ‘Squeffle’. Mellow North are a collective who are pushing across the creative board, from production to branding to management, linking up here with Bone Slim, a member of another exciting, progressive group Nine8 on the debonair and ruminative track.

The suave, rich sonic palette oozes with melodic intricacy and deft, vibrant production from B£NJY. The vinyl tinged keys sample works perfectly with the understated boom bap kit, and the soundscape as a whole is deliciously subtle. Mellow member Ollie C impresses on the first verse, offering up velvety flows and musing wordplay. The chorus is a stand out feature of the song, with Finch’s vocal serene and sublime. Bone Slim impresses as always, affirming himself to be one of the strongest spitters in the underground, with charismatic, seasoned delivery and the usual array of creative, buoyant and considered lyricism.

With plenty of talent and purpose, the Mellow North assemble have a phosphorescent future ahead.
