SNUB

Putting it simply, this hits. On ‘Snub’ the third freestyle this year from South London’s Flohio, we hear her irreverent, confident - on top.

“I’m feeling my steeze...I’m not begging for companies”, she spits on the hook. It’s a pleasing double entendre, a reference to  these strange times of isolation, and her independence as an  artist, everything is self-released on her own label, Alpha.  She’s previously said that she wants to make a strong artistic foundation before considering signing to a major label and the confidence of this track shows Flohio is doing just fine, continuing to cement her identity and sound.

The visual and production further showcase her artistic conviction - the choices are simple but bold. Speech’s production blends trap and UK drill, with a darkly psychedelic, vocal chop reminiscent of the Prodigy’s ‘Smack My Bitch Up’. In a nod to its drill influence, it’s given space to play out at the end as the visual builds to a surreal intensity leaving our heads spinning.

The sudden cut then we want to spin the track again and again.
