Righteous

The first posthumous solo track from Juice WRLD since the 21-year-old sadly left us in December, ‘Righteous’ is a melodic and melancholic telling of some of the darker times within Juice’s world.

Continuing on thematically and sonically from his last album ‘Death Race for Lovein 2019, (Nick Mira, producer of ‘Lucid Dreams’, rejoins on this one) Juice directly confronts his cyclic battle with anxiety and addiction. Relieving his planet-sized anxiety with a codeine cup that runneth over, and with multiple biblical references throughout, the emo-rap star seems morally aware, yet helpless, to the recurrent situation he’s in.

Though the lyrics at times are frighteningly eerie, “beautiful eyes, deceiving; we may die this evening”, 999 fans will find solace in hearing their guy again. And with a new album set to be released soon, ‘Righteous’ provides us with a sample of what was to come.
