Please Don’t Move To London It’s A Trap / Awful Things

In his typically candid fashion, Murkage Dave’s new singles express remorse and acceptance for his current surroundings, while disclosing the very human life of being an artist, and the man he is.

Murkage Dave has long connected the dots between Manchester and London. His iconic Murkage events and crew (alongside the likes of Mike Skinner) cemented his character amongst the music scenes of north and south. But the Londoner, who made his name in Manchester post-18, has recently moved back to the capital.

With growth under his belt, Murkage Dave has a new-found perspective:

‘Please Don’t Move To London It’s A Trap’, (a title as sprawling as the track itself), represents this aptly, as Dave’s first-hand observations paint life in London through real senses. His words are front and centre with little instrumentation bar steady guitar strings.

But on ‘Awful Things’, AARRT’s production sets Dave’s vocals in textures as urgent as they are mellow. Caroline Polachek of Chairlift joins at the halfway mark to counterbalance the host, simultaneously merging the ethereal with the grounded.

This double release comes three years after Dave’s ever-popular LP Murkage Dave Changed My Life. With such a wait, let’s hope these two tracks precede another full-length on the way.
