Mijo Pt. 1
Orange Country’s Josh Dominguez bends generic convention and narrative perception on the cerebral, shrewd and unorthodox ‘Mijo Pt. 1’. Hailing from sunny California, influenced by the likes of BJ the Chicago Kid, Josh’s music alludes radiance and retrospective, paying homage to his own existence, cultural background and beginnings. An artist who wears his heart on his sleeve, Dominguez combats emotional retrograde with understated charisma and deft instrumentation on this vivid and dulcet cut.
The flourishing instrumental incorporates elements of R&B, indie and hip hop in an engaging way, with the artist marrying organic drums with lo-fi instrumentation and layered vocal harmonies as a chalice to pour in his rich, red wine vocals. Certainly a glass half full kind of character, Josh questions perception and life in a philosophical, personal and playful way. The flows are unique rhythmically, complementing the laidback delivery and tonality.
A studious, poignant and expansive track, Josh Dominguez shows himself to be a well rounded and strong willed writer. Definitely worth a listen.
