LUMBERJACK

The enigmatic aristocrat is back with a vengeance.

Tyler, the Creator is the founding member of the infamous rap crew Odd Future and has continued to excel in his production and performance abilities since. From fashion design to movie direction and even ice cream, Tyler Okonma has continued to prove his immense artistic prowess in the contemporary age. Returning as his newly developed persona Tyler Baudelaire, the track ‘LUMBERJACK’ from his new album ‘CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST’ is a swirling, abrasive reminder of his charismatic wordplay and devastating beats. Introduced by the hyperbolic DJ Drama, the song slams the listener with punchy drums and rattling melodies, reminiscent of his ‘Wolf’ era.

As usual, Tyler’s emphatic lyricism stands out on the track, delivering memorable line after line with an apparent effortlessness. The gritty production quality is a reoccurring trope in his more recent projects like ‘IGOR’, with a focus on energy over sonic clarity which, in turn, creates a more personable sound.

The short 2-and-a-bit minutes is a confident affirmation of Tyler’s fearless creativity. That is, if we even needed to be reminded.
