LOLA
Cue the inevitable high-pitched rewind of the decks, mosh-pit antics and the uninhibited sweat that hit the air. That was how I experienced KarimThaPeasant’s ‘LOLA’ for the first time at Peckham hotspot Tola and I knew it would be a hit. KTP is an East Londoner of Algerian descent who is no stranger to breaking the rules. After dropping his debut EP ‘Mad’ in 2016, the transformative rapper has built a healthy following with fans travelling from the depths of Europe to attend his riotous London shows that verge on the brink of the public disorder.
Having secured support from the UK’s best tastemakers and shutting down festivals globally, KTP is ready to take it to the next level with new single ‘LOLA’. When it comes to Karim’s singles, the name of the game is catchy hooks and that’s certainly the case on this joint. Once we’re all allowed back into civilisation and most importantly the clubs, ‘LOLA’ will be a tool every DJ will draw for to shut down their sets. This is the first taste of what’s to come off self-titled EP ‘KTP’ and if it’s anything to go by, we are in for a much-needed treat.
