Morose and uncompromising, Lex Amor doesn’t disappoint with her wickedly addictive sorrows on ‘Mazza’. Produced by Melo-Zed, who dropped his equally uncompromising other-worldly masterpiece ‘Zachary’ last year, this track is a sparse marriage of no wave, a minimal guitar line and a contrasting but wholly necessary ‘Red Clay’ bass melody. Works of such originality and abruptness beams through the cracks in today’s climate. Lex Amor has such competence in her fields (DJ, radio host, producer, rapper) that she has formed an elite fanbase with little more than one solo release a year. 2020 will be different however, with ‘Mazza’ being the first release from an impending mixtape, which I feel confident in predicting has probably been years of constant work behind the scenes. Whatever we receive, we will be grateful for. All comes to he who waits.
