In The Water

After introducing herself on the meditated, stunning mixtape ‘I Don’t Remember October’, the versatile, Delphian Sofila rides the wave with the talented BermudaCal on masterful new single ‘In the Water’, produced by Soul Syndicate. On this sun kissed cut, the American artists use their eclectic influences and soaring vocal tonality, combined with washy, spacious production and serene, wholesome instrumentation.

The beat consists of characteristic, jazzy guitar chords, an adventurous, effortless bass line and some classic, grooving percussion. Soul Syndicates production creates a warm, radiant sonic landscape that feels like a hot sun beaming down on a deserted beach. Both Cal and Sofila showcase their unique talent: Cal coming through with the laidback but sharp vocal flows, and memorable chorus melody, while Sofila brings her breathless vulnerability and vitality, with some lavish melodic work and provocative imagery and thematic content. The structure of the track works well, with the variation of male vocal followed by female vocal smooth and effective.

A supreme vibe, this is a perfect late summer track. Reflective, ataractic and plush, Sofila and BermudaCal sound like they belong on the same track. I’m exciting to hear what comes next from them.
