Danger

One of soul’s rising talents, Olivia Dean proves she is deep-rooted in her ascension with latest bop Danger

Nobody can describe this track better than Olivia Dean has herself; the singer stated: “it’s playful, tongue in cheek and an oxymoron”. A description that is confirmed with only one play through of the track, it also appears to have inspired the song’s music video.

A video that primarily consists of a cheerful Dean vibing to her bop, the video also vaults between various visual styles - everything from an orange-tinged ethereal landscape to a James Bond-esque shot of Dean and a dog. These ever-changing styles are reminiscent of the songstress’ discography, as an artist who is certainly not afraid to explore new musical styles. Combining R&B, Lover’s Rock and Bossa Nova is a move that most singers could not even fathom, but Dean is able to do so in ‘Danger’ with an ease that is unmatched.

After a year without any new releases, Danger sees Olivia Dean in a warmly cheerful mood and heralds absolute magic in her upcoming LP.
