North West London rapper and producer, of Ghanaian descent, K The Infinite (real name, Kwadwo Ntiamoah) grew up on Camden’s Pangbourne Estate before his parents moved to Tottenham at the age of 7 when he started living between his Mothers and Grandmothers house.
At the same time, he began going through hallucinations and seeing demons, and he feels this shaped the way he saw the world and interacted with people, and it drove him to understand the spiritual and the systems of society. “If one little thing doesn’t make sense I would always try to work out that discrepancy whether that be with a new system or discarding the old system”. He would find solace in music by artists such as Lauryn Hill, Jay-Z and Erykah Badu but describes the legendary emcee, Canibus, as having the most influence on him lyrically, sparking the descriptive and complex lyricism in his songs.
Kwadwo found his own way into music after getting into beef with a boy at his school in year seven. The boy in turn, then made a diss track aimed at Kwadwo so he had no choice but to learn how to emcee quickly to regain his pride. He carried on writing bars from then and eventually broke into the north London grime scene.
The recent Astrophysics graduate is now living back in Camden, working on his music. Kwadwo’s dark visions as a youngster have given him a hunger for knowledge and understanding of the universe which he explores throughout his music. He credits the importance of “understanding the world from multiple perspectives as it allows you to manoeuvre a lot more peacefully. From understanding people’s motives to understanding how different systems operate allows you that clarity in your decision making”.
Kwadwo’s more modern influences include the likes of Sampha, Kendrick Lamar, Kojey Radical and James Blake, as he reflects on his own music as soulful, introspective and lyrical. Talking on what has held him back personally in his past he says “I feel like what has held me back then has been necessary for me to grow in to the artist I am now. But at the same time the frustration made my music mature and become more personal... It’s no longer from the perspective of an observer of the world, but observing myself.”
Kwadwo was dubbed by the MOBO Awards as one of the names to watch alongside the likes of Xavier Omar and Nadia Rose. In 2018, Kwadwo released the eleven track project, ’Void’, and he has developed traction on the best platforms in the UK including; BIOGRAPHY K THE INFINITE BBC 1Xtra, Link Up TV, Rinse FM, Radar Radio, Westside Radio. He also featured on Stay Cool’s All Together series alongside Sh?m, K Le Maestro and DJ Jazzy Jeff amongst others.
Over the past year, he has accumulated over half a million Soundcloud plays and has been in working in the studio with the likes of Jerome Thomas, Wize, Eklipse, Aneesa Marie and Jael The Voice. Kwadwo has a big year ahead of him and will undoubtedly make waves in British Hip Hop over the coming years. The up and coming rapper, singer and producer is, without a doubt, the one to keep an eye on.
